Karlsruher University Football Team is on the verge of their biggest success in history: The student-led football club from Karlsruhe is poised to promote to the second-highest football league. The team, led by Abteilungsleiter, Coach and Spieler Mirco Ebel, is proud of their unique concept, which sees them invest heavily in the education of their players. Despite the challenges of having a large turnover of players due to their student status, the Engineers have been playing at a high level in recent years, with a Durchmarsch from the fourth to the third league in the last two years. Now, they aim to promote to the second Bundesliga. The team's philosophy is to focus on developing their own players, rather than importing them from the USA. Ebel believes that this approach has been key to their success, saying: 'If you've been unbroken champions twice in a row, you want to take on this challenge.' The first relegation game against Bad Homburg will take place on Saturday at 17:00 on the artificial turf.
